Armorturf Permeable Grass Paving
The environmentally friendly Armortec Grass Block can be applied in areas where a typical pavement might be unaesthetic, such as in conservation areas, roadside verges, emergency services access, canal towpaths, farm tracks or rural settings - The PGP Grass Block is popular with local authorities looking to provide hard-standing or emergency access to otherwise green areas, such as pumping stations on residential estates, and access tracks for service vehicles, fire engines etc
It is also used for erosion control in some situations.
PGP grass block paving can be installed by competent workmen or as a diy project.
PGP is ideal for laying in an area to park cars, caravan, or motorhome, but perhaps there is a preference to see grass rather than concrete. It also overcomes the problems of soil erosion, soil retention and drainage issues.
For extra drainage capability - fill the voids with Pea Gravel Shingle 10mm aggregate rather than soil.
New legislation from 1 October 2008 applies to householders in the UK who intend paving their front garden.
If the planned surface to be covered is more than five square metres planning permission must be obtained for laying traditional, impermeable driveways that do not control rainwater running off onto roads.
Planning permission is not required if the new driveway uses permeable (or porous) grass paving eg Armorturf Permeable Paving which allows water to drain through
INSTALLATION
Apply a sub-base using Crushed Stone - Base layer for Patio Slabs and Paving Kits
Roll the sub-base until firm, then screed a 50mm layer of Sharp Sand on top
Place units and tamp down
Fill the grass block cavities to 20-40mm below the surface with good quality soil and seed
Allow 3-6 weeks for grass to grow through
